Family members have been left to grieve the loss of a wife and mother after a recent tragedy in Ohio. A tractor trailer and five other vehicles were involved in the horrifying crash. It was reported that the driver of the big rig rendered aid to some of the victims. Motor vehicle accidents that result in the untimely death of victims sometimes often to legal claims being filed in civil courts.
The Austintown crash took place on the Ohio Turnpike on a recent Friday night. Reportedly, a tractor trailer smashed into five vehicles that were apparently stopped in a construction zone. One of those vehicles was reportedly pushed into a nearby guardrail. After hitting the guardrail, the vehicle burst into flames.
Reports indicate that the 23-year-old operator of the big rig rendered aid to a man and his children who were in the burning vehicle. They were pulled to safety; sadly, however, the man’s wife, who was also in the vehicle, was not able to escape the fire. The 44-year-old woman did not survive the accident.
There were three other reported victims who suffered injuries in the collision. The accident remains under investigation. When motor vehicle accidents in Ohio result in the untimely deaths of victims, immediate family members sometimes choose to file legal claims against the party or parties deemed at fault. It is obvious that successful litigation is no replacement for the loss of human life. A compensatory award issued in such circumstances, however, could be used to help alleviate the cost of a funeral and other monetary losses related to an accident, and this might lift some of the financial burden that a family is experiencing in the midst of their grief.
