Ohio Interstate 75 was the scene of a recent crash involving two vehicles. As in this case, motor vehicle accidents sometimes involve tractor-trailer trucks. A car that was also involved in the recent incident was driven by a man who is now suspected of driving drunk.
The collision occurred a couple hours after midnight on a recent Wednesday. Crews were called to the scene after a tractor-trailer smashed into an embankment. Moments before coming to a halt, the truck had been airborne. The driver had taken evasive action, trying to avoid a second crash when a vehicle attempted to pass him on the road and reportedly struck the side of his vehicle during the maneuver.
The 47-year-old truck driver was injured in the crash and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His vehicle was said to be in danger of falling back off the embankment into traffic, but firemen at the scene reported that the truck had been secured. It was reported that roads would be closed while crews went to work removing the wrecked truck from the road.
Police say that the 37-year-old man driving the car that allegedly hit the truck smelled like alcohol when they approached him. They have since listed alcohol as a leading factor in the case.
