Being involved in an accident can often leave drivers and passengers stunned, frightened and sometimes even in pain. If a person is experiencing pain, it is likely that he or she has suffered an injury due to the crash. If the injury or injuries prove to be serious, those individuals may have reason to file a personal injury claim against the party considered responsible.
Such a claim could result from a serious accident that took place in Ohio. It was reported that a minivan was stopped on the shoulder of a roadway when a semi-truck hauling two trailers went out of control. The truck hit the minivan, both vehicles went into a ditch and the truck overturned, which caused the cab of the truck to be crushed.
The minivan apparently had 10 occupants, and all of those individuals were taken to hospitals. It was reported that six of the 10 individuals were injured and only two of those seriously injured, but all were taken as a precaution. The driver of the semi-truck was also seriously injured, but he was considered to be stable condition at the time of the report. At this time, no charges have been filed.
Because individuals in the van were seriously injured, they may have reason to file a personal injury claim against the driver considered at fault. The driver’s employer may be added as a defendant as well. Serious injuries can lead to medical bills and other negative outcomes that could affect parties financially, physically and emotionally. If the individuals believe that seeking compensation could be right for them after this Ohio accident, filing a civil claim may be helpful in that pursuit.
