When traveling through construction zones or other areas on the roadway in which workers are present, it is important to pay particular attention. It is often prudent to slow down in these areas in order to lessen the likelihood of an accident. Unfortunately, not all drivers do their best driving in these areas, and a crash could occur that could potentially lead to an individual or individuals filing personal injury claims.
An accident in Ohio involving a car, a crossover and a tractor-trailer recently took place in a work zone. It was reported that the driver of the car had slowed his vehicle due to debris in the roadway, and the crossover traveling behind him struck the car. As a result, the car collided with the median and then with a tractor-trailer.
The driver of the crossover and the passengers in that vehicle all suffered minor injuries. The two passengers were transported from the scene for treatment. The driver of the car was considered to be in stable condition after also being taken to a hospital, but the passenger in that car was listed as being critically injured. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not suffer any injuries.
As this situation indicates, it is important to be aware of other drivers and potential hazards while traveling. Because the driver of the crossover collided with the car after the car’s driver attempted to slow, there could be potential for the crossover driver to be considered at fault for the accident. If the investigation comes to this conclusion, the individuals who were seriously injured in the Ohio crash may want to consider filing personal injury claims that could allow them to seek compensation for damages.
